Training Your Beagle
When training your beagle, it will often
require more time to train than other dogs, because they tend
to get distracted, which is why you should train your beagle in
a quiet area with few distractions.
Housebreaking is the first form of training many beagles go
through. The most important thing is to stick to a strict
schedule about when your dog will be let outside to go
potty. Dogs love schedules so give it to them.
Obedience training is often the second form of training most
beagles do through. It is important to start with the
basic sit command first, because this is the basic building
block of so many other commands, and the sit command can also
serve to quickly stop any behavior problems, like when your
beagle jumps up on people.
Some beagles even go through hunting training. Beagles
were first bred to be hunting dogs and so many people still use
them to hunt hares and rabbits, either by themselves or through
hunting clubs.
No matter what you train your beagle to do, always use
positive reinforcement. Dogs will actually work harder to
gain your approval than to avoid punishment.
When training your Beagle have lots of patience and love and
you will have the best-trained beagle on the block!
