Guide To House Breaking A Beagle

Beagle house training requires a lot of patience on your part. By following these guidelines below you can help your puppy advance quickly. Remember to take it slow and aim for a little advancement everyday.

Remember That Their Puppies

Puppies make mistakes and that is how they learn. Just like children learn by making mistakes. You have to have patience and don't get upset by this when your puppy makes a mess. Have lots of patience and you will find the whole experience much less stressful

Take Them Outside Often

When you first get your puppy home, they don't know they should go outside, they just assume it is all right to go wherever they feel. Take them outside almost every hour at the beginning so they get the idea that there is a difference between outside and inside.

Reward Them With Lots Of Love

Whenever your puppy goes outside reward them almost immediately with a treat and lots of love. Make it a big deal when your puppy does something correctly. By doing this you are helping your puppy mentally associate going outside with a reward.

Take Them Outside First Thing and Right After

Take them outside first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Also make sure you take them outside right after you feed them. Remember you should only feed twice a day for 15 minutes or less. Do not leave food outside all day long because Beagles are prone to obesity.

Stay On Schedule

Once you start beagle house training it is very important that you stay on schedule. Dogs love to stay on schedule, so it is vital that you do so. If your beagle expects that you will take them outside to relieve him at 7am you must do this otherwise there might be an accident.

Make sure everyone in your family is on the same schedule. If you are gone for a business trip make sure the rest of the family stays consistent and does not go off schedule.

If you want to have lots of problems trying to housebreak your beagle then do not stay on schedule.

Almost everyone that does not follow a schedule of taking their beagle outside will have problems, and then they will complain that it is the dog, when in fact it is them who are the problem.

Beagles love to please the pack leader. But if that pack leader is not consistent in what they expect you will have problems when beagle house training.
