Beagle Personalities
Kinds of Beagle Personalities
Beagle personalities are unique to each beagle. In general
though beagles have a few kinds of personalities.
A lot of what we see in our dog we tend to see in our
selves. Many times we assume things about our dogs because we
want to believe them.
For example almost everyone thinks that their beagle is
smart. In fact many people think that their pet is smarter than
average. How can this be? Well who wants to think of their pet
as dumb.
So when we give personalities to beagles we have to be
careful and be objective about how we are classifying them.
After working with lots of beagles here are the three most
common beagle personalities I have seen:
1.Inquisitive. Beagles were bred to hunt things and
the inquisitive beagle personality is a natural extension of
this. This beagle will always be snooping around trying to find
things or exploring their environment.
2.Quiet. Where the quiet beagle personality is unique
to beagles or just due to temperament, this in another common
one. I think this is one of a more submissive dog or a dog that
is not sure of where he fits into the pack environment. Beagles
who are not sure of their status in the pack tend to be more
apprehensive.
3.Go Along Dog. This is a great pack dog. It loves to
hang around family and other dogs and do what they are doing.
This is the best of all beagle personalities to have.
The Go Along Dog will play with you and give you lots of
attention. Make sure you reinforce this behavior with lots of
positive reinforcement.
These are just some of the beagle personalities I have seen
and that I think are the most common among beagles.
Beagle personalities often come out as puppies, and once
they start walking around you can often tell their temperament
after just spending one hour with them.
It can be hard to change a dogs personality, just like
changing a humans personality is hard. You just have to accept
your beagle for who they are and love them.
