Beagle Shedding
How To Reduce Beagle Shedding
Beagle shedding can be a problem for some dog owners. While
beagles shed less than some breeds of dogs, they do shed, what
may seem like a lot of hair sometimes. Fortunately there are
things you can do to reduce beagle shedding.
While breeds like German Shepards and Golden Retrievers
appear to shed seasonally, shorter haired breeds, like the
beagle, appear to shed continuously. So if beagles shed all
year round you need to do something about it.
Shedding is often a deal breaker from some pet owners
causing them to give up a pet. But thankfully today there are a
number of things you can do.
Here are some tips to reduce beagle shedding:
1.Brush your dog on a regular basis. There is a new grooming
tool out there called the Furminator which works wonders.
Although this brush is more expensive than most it removes
almost all loose hair. You can use a less expensive brush, but
realize you will have to brush more frequently, and wonÕt be
able to do as good of a job.
2.Realize that some medical issues can cause shedding. If
you think there is excessive beagle shedding take your dog to
the veterinarian. Certain medical conditions like skin problems
and hormonal problems, like CushingÕs disease causes excessive
shedding. Even some drugs or medical treatments can cause
excessive shedding.
3.A dry coat often leads to excessive shedding as well. Give
your beagle a nice moisturizing shampoo bath or an oatmeal bath
if this is the case.
4.Feed a premium dog food. Good nutrition leads to a healthy
coat. Healthy coats shed less than poor coats. Poor nutrition
is a common cause of excessive beagle shedding.
Products to stop beagle shedding
There are a lot of products that you can give your pet today
that claim to reduce beagle shedding. Most of these products
contain Omega 3 fatty acids, which is usually gotten from flax
seed.
A lot of shed stoppers also contain vitamins like A, B, D,
and E. Vitamins are added to shed stoppers to keep a healthy
coat. A healthier coat leads to less shedding.
Also, many shed stoppers have minerals added like zinc,
copper, and selenium. Fat from seeds are also added to shed
stoppers.
You should always consult your veterinarian before giving
any shed stoppers to your beagle. If you are dealing with
excessive beagle shedding look at the quality of the
food and hair coat first to help determine the problem.
