Starting To Run Rabbits

Night training beagle pups can be a lot of fun. Very few people even do this so finding information on it can be hard. If you live in an area that has a dog hunting club or know of someone who does this I would recommend contacting them. Modeling someone who does night training of beagle pups already will greatly speed up your learning curve.

First of all make sure your beagle is fully vaccinated for rabies and other diseases before taking him out in the woods and night training beagle pups. Also know that beagles can be prone to trauma to the skin like scratches and eye problems from twigs and fallen branches hitting them in the face, so know a good veterinarian.

Before you start night training beagle pups you have to start out in your house. Make sure you pup knows the basic commands of come and stay. Also they need to know how to play fetch.

If you have a long hallway for this it would be best. Only after your beagle pup has these basic commands down, then proceed to take them out into your fenced backyard. Practice all these commands again from a further distance.

Know you have to start training your beagle for scent tracking you can start by hiding piece of hotdogs around the yard after dragging them through the grass. Make sure you donÕt let your dog see where you place the hotdog, only show them where you started the scent trail.

Once the hotdog is mastered proceed to let your pet rabbit jump around the yard for a while leaving a scent trail. Then let your puppy try and follow the trail.

To expand this it is best to go to a starting pen or running pen. Usually dog hunting clubs have these to help train dogs. They are several acres of fenced in land with some rabbits. Let your dog loose in these a couple of times a week until they get the feel of it.

Only after they have progressed to master this pen at night should you actually let them out in the woods at night. Remember, they have to come when called, before you let them loose.

This is a very simplified version of what I did in the past. Again the easiest to learn night training beagle pups is to join a hunting club and find someone that has done it before.
